SAMS Business Models in Indonesia

54 SAMS Business Models have been developed by start-ups, SMEs and students in different business development activities supported by the project partners UNPAD, ICEADDIS, UNILV, UNIKAS, UNIGRA. The SAMS Business Models range from honey reselling, digital marketplaces, beekeeping supply, beekeeping products for health and beauty to tourism, education and technology incl. remote monitoring beehives, DSS, PCB, data warehouse, etc.

Madu Cantik (Macan) is pure honey concoctions selected specifically from the taste, texture and nutritional that is very good for overcoming various skin problems. Laduni Mutiara by Apiary Laduni Mutiara Abul Kodir

 

Laduni Mutiara Lestari is a group of Apis mellifera beekeepers from Cianjur, West Java. It has about 300 colonies that have never been in Cianjur due to the absence of sufficient bee food. Have a dream to have a location for beekeepers in Cianjur and have started looking for cooperation with local government agencies to be able to use land that has not been utilized.

In marketing, they have collaborated with various local business owners in Cianjur to become a location for selling honey. In addition, he is also active in activities held by the West Java Provincial Forestry Service. One example was a participant in the Thrive Project, a project that was born from the collaboration of the Social Corporate Law Society (Socolas), Mongabay Indonesia (website from the US), The Local Enablers (a community from Unpad), IKA SKMA Jabar, and the West Java Provincial Forestry Service.

Bandung Bee Sanctuary by CV. Suaka Lebah Bandung Yoga R. Nugraha. Bandung Bee Sanctuary is a beekeeping start-up that is selling honey, providing educational services, research and community empowerment. Types of bees that are cultivated include Apis cerana and Trigona laeviceps. There are five main concepts raised in this business, namely: Bee Farming, Edu Tourism, Social Innovation, & Eco Working Space.

Located around the city center of Bandung makes BBS an urban beekeeping. In addition, the land used by BBS is a land that is not utilized and even once became a waste disposal location. The location is then converted into a bee farm that can be planted with various types of flowers. The resulting impact of Bandung Bee Sanctuary activity is environmental preservation efforts through on abandoned critical land and becoming a landfill. Inaugurated on January 10, 2020 by the Chancellor of Padjadjaran University as a social entrepreneur based on conversation and eco-technology by prioritizing honey bee cultivation, ecotourism, and honey beekeeping training in improving quality of the environment and empowering the surrounding community.

Bulema Acep Jaelani Bulema (budidaya lebah madu = honey bee cultivation) is a honey bee ecosystem with high economic value. There are several main concepts that have been raised in this business: Bee Farming, Edu Tourism, Social Innovation, and Beekeeping Education.

The impact of Bulema activities is an increase in public awareness of beekeeping and an increase in the capacity of new beekeepers / prospective beekeepers regarding the ability to implement beekeeping. Bulema collaborates with Bandung Bee Sanctuary in developing its business.

A place for research and innovation in information technology that focuses on developing systems (web, mobile & API) and emerging technologies (Internet of Things, big data, etc.), which can produce technological solutions that have a social impact. The products that Calakan offers are consultation, software/website making, hardware construction, as well as IT system development services. One of their products is monitoring technology for Apis Cerana and assembled using a more affordable tech so the beekeepers will be able to afford this technology. BMC
Honey Lab M. Rifqi Fajriansyah Honey Lab is a honey local product that concerns empowering local farmers with their sociopreneur company. They reinvest their profits to upgrade local farmers and their forest. The products that Honey Lab offer is honey made by local farmers, 100% pure honey from West Java Farm, farmer local product, green-social business concept. BMC
Madu Baduy Dede Sukriman Madu Baduy is a social enterprise empowering the people of Baduy (local ethnic of Banten Province). Madu Baduy rebrands honey from people of Baduy so that other people know about beekeeping activities of people of Baduy. The product that Madu Baduy offers is forest honey. However, currently, this business is only focused on increasing product value in the packaging of its honey products. BMC
Honeymu Anggi Bagus R. Honeymu is a honey local product that has its own beekeeping and offline store. They inform customers about convenience of being reseller, authenticity and honey availability, affordability and access to purchase. The products that Honeymu offers are mellifera/cerana honeycomb, bee pollen, raw honey and multiflora honey. BMC
Gudang Lebah Sutriyo. Gudang Lebah is a wholesale center of bee products. They offer and inform people about pure products from bees. The products that Gudang Lebah offers are honey, royal jelly, bee pollen, propolis, and beeswax. BMC
Jaga Lebah Octy Viali Z. Jaga Lebah is designed to be a community / start-up in Indonesia that focuses on bee conservation efforts through various ways. The main aim of Jaga Lebah is to increase people’s understanding of the importance of bees for life, especially among children and young people in urban areas. Jaga Lebah also has slogan “Bee as a Pet”, it uses trigona (stingless bee) as their main product. BMC
Madu Bina Apiari Dianita K. Kartika. Madu Bina Apiari is a local honey product that empowers local forest beekeepers and already in beekeeping business since 1980. They concern the production of honey from beekeepers and train them about good beekeeping practices. The products that Madu Bina Apiari offers are honey, bee pollen, bee bread, and royal jelly. BMC
Madu Primary Dandi Budiman Madu Primary is a brand used to sell and rebrand honey products by a start-up called Primary Agro. Primary Agro acts as a reseller in supply chain. Bio-N-Propolis Yuanita Handayati

 

Bio-N-Propolis is a propolis product based on research in Laboratorium. The raw material is produced by bees Tetragonula spp. which is maintained directly by the Bio-N Team, in collaboration with local farmers. Bio-N is a start-up company in health and beauty products that has its root from the research and innovation activities carried out at the Institute of Technology of Bandung (ITB). The name Bio-N derived from Bio-Engineering or Bio-Natural which highlights the importance of natural essence in producing health and beauty products. BMC
Wisata Petik Madu Hariyono, S.E. Wisata Petik Madu is a beekeeping tour that was founded in 1978 which had the initial objective of providing lessons for beekeepers around the Lawang area but later developed into a tourist location due to the high interest of the community. There are three types of bees (A. Mellifera, A. cerana, and Trigona) that are cultivated at honey-picking tourism sites. BMC
Bee Quest UNPAD team Bee Quest is a digital platform for beekeepers integrated throughout the world. Bee Quest application provides various information and all information related to beekeeping so that farmers can develop their business. The impact to be created from this application is to connect local beekeepers with other beekeepers from abroad so that they can exchange information and expand the honey sales market. This application can facilitate communication between beekeepers directly with consumers so consumers can get guarantees of pure honey.  In addition, this platform aims to make it easier for customers who are interested in beekeeping to find beekeepers who are scattered throughout the world. So that customers have no trouble finding the nearest producer or beekeeper that can be visited. It also provides a discussion forum between beekeepers, government, academics, business, community and media to share knowledge or information related to beekeeping. BMC
App Beekeeper UNPAD team Beekeeper App is an educational application for new beekeepers that contains information about beekeeping by using an interactive and easy to understand approach. Beside developing online applications, App Beekeepers also carry out social activities such as creating social movements in the community by directly educating through workshops and seminars. This application aims to c/p from D2.4assist beekeepers, especially new beekeepers in starting beekeeping. Not only bee farmers will get benefits but also people who have interest in learning about beekeeping. BMC
HOI Jelly Skincare UNPAD team Royal Jelly is a food consumed by queen bees that has many benefits, one of which is for beauty. Based on the results of the study mentioned that royal jelly contains vitamins and essential fatty acids that are able to regenerate the skin and contain gelatine, which can make the skin more moisturized and maintained its elasticity so as to prevent aging and wrinkles on the face. Based on this, the opportunity to develop herbal skincare products (skincare) is very promising. The purpose of this business is to help improve the welfare of honey beekeepers in the Bandung area. Also, this product is expected to be a safe cosmetic choice for the skin BMC
Bee A Flower Apps UNPAD team Bee Flowers application is a flower calendar for beekeepers in order to be able to plant the main source of bee food in a sustainable manner according to the time of flowering/blooming to prevent feed shortages during the dry season. The availability of pollen and nectar from flowers is very important for bee colonies (pollen is a source of protein, while nectar is a source of energy for bee colonies). Based on this, the Bee Flowers application was made. This application purpose to help beekeepers to plant bee forage according to the time of flowering so bee feed remains available throughout the year. The source of the spring calendar data is obtained from scientific journals and information from experts. BMC
Smart Bee UNPAD team Smart Bee Is an application that is able to connect between local bee growers and bee growers around the world. This application will provide the data needed by bee farmers to be able to optimize the production of honey and to be able to sell to consumers practically. What is unique about this application is the ability to monitor the beehives remotely and be able to retrieve data about the health and performance of the bee colony. Besides this application can also be a SAMS supporting application that is able to provide information relating to how to care and also improve SAMS technology. The impact to be created from this application is to connect local beekeepers with other beekeepers from abroad so that they can exchange information. BMC
Bee Virtual Ecosystem (BVE) UNPAD team Bee Virtual Ecosystem is a technology-based beekeeping center where bees are cultivated by bee farmers in the Cianjur Regency, which is able to produce the best quality of honey that is monitored virtually through an application with a sound sensor. The output of the Bee Virtual Ecosystem is not only to provide beekeeping products but also offers an innovative learning model for beekeeping that is spawned through publishing scientific journals and also provide access to beekeepers in conducting their beekeeping activities to be monitored virtually but also to ensure access to researchers or academics in doing research. The Bee Virtual Ecosystem is hoped to be a reference for bee research and innovative research for scientists and universities throughout the world. Therefore, BVE is aiming at the target of academics, owners of development technology who will later make a virtual ecological incubator regulating machine, industrial companies to help market the products of beekeeping from BVE. Ruang Bermadu UNPAD team “Ruang Bermadu” was created to aim at educating youth about the benefits and benefits of honey. In addition, “Ruang Bermadu” also educates young people that raising honey bees is not dangerous and has good business opportunities that have an impact on sustainability.

Combined Space is a business idea in the form of a chill out for young people who use honey to become Honey Smoothies that are adapted to the original character of the honey. In addition, the integrated room has a wall of knowledge from the world of beekeeping, indolocal corner for local processed honey products and Live Honey beekeeping, inviting visitors to get the sensation of living with bees in the middle of the city.

UNPAD team This application is an application made not only to provide access to beekeepers in monitoring the production of honey from their colonies but also to provide access for beekeepers in selling or offering their honey products directly to consumers. So that honey farmers and consumers can directly interact in the transaction process.

This is an application and a tool that is useful for beekeepers to be able to monitor the growth and development of beekeeping. The device will later record data on the extent of honey bee production in producing quality honey, and the results of the data obtained can be accessed through an application that can be downloaded on the Playstore and at the Apple Store. The app not only contains data taken from the tool but also can be a platform for breeders to sell their beekeeping products directly. This application will bring together sellers and consumers, which then results in buying and selling transactions. With this set of Okay Dilemma tools, it is expected to be able to help beekeepers to be more independent and empowered in developing their aquaculture business.
